JFK Field Day was not hampered by the rainy weather. Our team had a plan for a wonderful day of inside activities! Field Day activities were held throughout the school halls and music room.
Students also earned enough SOAR slips to have a School Carnival Activity. We had many carnival game stations where students could play games and win prizes.
Our team of staff who organized these two events, our parent volunteers were essential to the wonderful success of this day. Thank you to all for your time and efforts!!
As a final Field / Carnival Day treat - all students and staff were able to enjoy a Dakota Snow cone treat - thank you to our Booster Fun Run Supports for your support this year!!
UPDATE - JFK 15 Day Summer Countdown Challenge is nearly halfway through! - Every day that a class has perfect attendance, they are earning a SUNSHINE! - On the last day of school, the class in each grade that has the most SUNSHINES will get a special prize! Let's stay focused on being On Time and Ready to Learn each day through the end of the school year!! Here is our progress so far! SOAR Eagles, SOAR! And keep earning those SUNSHINES through the last day of school!

Junior Kindergarten were treated to a Visitor today for the letter "V". Ms. Jean from Delta Dental came to talk to students about keeping our teeth healthy. Ms. Jean used her Friend Fish to show us how to brush our teeth. Our friend Wyatt got to be the Magician helper! Thank You, Ms. Jean and Delta Dental for the visit today!
Have you heard of The ChompSaw? It's a tool for the next generation of inventors, thinkers and problem solvers! The ChompSaw helps students learn tool safety. It helps with coordination and spatial reasoning, promotes creativity and use of sustainable materials to make ideas come to live! JFK 2nd and 5th graders have started using this new tool in Art. Students are working on their form projects - building with cardboard. Here are a few photos of them working. Be sure to ask your 2nd and 5th graders to tell you about these projects in Art Class!

Today is our last day for Everybody Reads Month. Please be sure to count your reading minutes, chapters or books through tonight and send them to school with your students so we can add up our total. So far, we are a little over 12,000 - but I am sure there are lots of forms to be returned. Thanks for supporting JFK for Everybody Reads Month!

Next week at JFK we are Celebrating Inclusion.
What does this mean? Inclusion means making sure everyone feels welcome and valued no matter who they are.
Inclusion is important because it makes people feel good and helps us learn from one another. When we include others, we are being respectful, kind and creating a possibility to make new friends. Being included makes us feel happy and accepted. We can include others by inviting them to play a game with us at recess or sit next to a new person at lunch.
Be kind. Using nice words can make a huge difference.
To help us Celebrate Inclusion, next week we will have dress up days next week. See our Choose To Include Week Schedule attached.

JFK's 1st Annual Art Show and Ice Cream Social was a wonderful event and huge success last night! We had an amazing turn out of students and families - even beyond our expectations.

UPDATE: JFK Students and Staff have been reading and reading. Our love of books and the adventures they take us on are starting to add up. So far, we have recorded just over 2,200 books read for EVERYBODY READS. Keep recording the books you are reading! It is amazing what we can accomplish together and remember...Reading is Sweet!
Reminder that daylight saving happened this weekend! We sprung forward this time, so be sure to set your clocks ahead one hour to keep everyone on time for school on Monday! ⏰
