On Monday, our 3rd grade students and teachers got to take a trip to the Washington Pavilion to see the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. Students were enthralled by the "Carnival of the Animals", which brought animals and music together to inspire them to explore the world.

Students in 105 had a fun morning sampling Girl Scout cookies and deciding which kind was their favorite. This multidisciplinary project sharpened their math skills of data and graphing, as well as their opinion writing skills.

Starting Friday, March 1 through March 22nd, JFK is participating in the Everybody Reads initiative with the Siouxland Libraries. This year's theme is "Rain or Shine, Everybody Reads." Students will have the opportunity to fill out raindrops to show the downpour created by our voracious readers! The Sioux Falls School District will donate $500 to REACH Literacy for each 100,000 books read. Last year, JFK students and staff read 11,237 books--we hope to surpass that total this year!
